Title: Newbie Here! Trial Bike Help Needed

EvilNick - August 20, 2006 01:04 PM (GMT)
Hi finally someone created a SG biking forum!

I remember there used to be one gang of riders in marine parade, near yuppie wheelers bike shop. I think I don't see them there anymore.

Btw, Any trial riders in pasir ris area? Spotted a group in pasir ris park before...

I've always wanted to start this sport since young but no money at that time lolz. Any kind soul out there willing to do meetups?
- teach me trials, the bunnyhops and stuff...
- recommending me a good trial bike
- recommend me a good bike store

get back to me on msn at evilnick[at]oink-oink.net

Thanks, hope I get some help here.

You have to decide, do you want to ride stock, 26in trials, or mod, 20in trials.

Do you want to compete? Or do you just want to ride for fun?

Do you want a trials specific frame? Or something that you can ride street on as well.

Do you want a seat?

And finally, whats your budget?

Trials specific components aren't cheap in singapore or anywhere else. Cheaper in hongkong though.

Finally someone replied!

Okay firstly whats the difference between stock, 26in trials, or mod, 20in trials.
Other than the size of the wheels and having the gears. I mean like is there any handling difference? maintainence?

I would preferbly want a hydraulic disc brake system rather than the coventional ones. And is there any trial bike with optional seat? eg. attach only when I riding around for fun.

I'm not into competing, I just want to ride for fun and learn tricks & obstacles, thats all I want.

No specific trials frame in mind but so far I've seen people riding monty, cannondale 26in, mongoose 26in years back.

Lets say I don't have a budget. What would you recommend?
And say if I have a budget of $2k what can I get?

Have msn? can add me yea?

Thanks xALmoN.

wow...
budget of 2k can get u a pretty pretty good set-up...

20 is smaller easier to handle, lighter and of course less impact with drops

brakes just strong ones will do lah... HS 33 would be good...

you are looking for a bike with seats then just look for a frame with seat lor...
not a specific must to go seatless...
unless ur very pro and the seat is hitting ur butt...(thats another issue altogether)

about the frame... mainly u just want a frame which is low...
i ve seen vids with ppl doing stuff on a no-so-ideal geometry frame
very much depends on the rider...
btw where do u stay???

I stay in pasir ris. Whats your msn? Maybe I can discuss with you over there?

Hi EvilNick and welcome to what we think are the best bike forums in Singapore (well, we like to think so)

I unfortunately am no expert on trials but there are others more than qualified than me to help you on your way to getting your bike. You can try Armcycles and Attitude Bikes in our Bikeshop listing to check out some shops that deal in such bikes.

Enjoy the forums!

Alan
