i stay opposite changi prison

and i ride a DH bike at 32-35km/h on cruising and 25-32km/h when warming up/ starting the bike

i was thinking of someone who is familiar with the western side of singapore?

the locations i would like to pass by, go through thru this island wide cycle is

1) yio chu kang
2) ang mo kio
3) woodlands

i know their not in order
but is there anyone who could accomplish that for me? :P

and yes i know that a DH bike is not very appropriate for such distances but well, its the only bike ive got compared to my entry level bike which has no sus and kinda sucks real bad :P!

Riding on the road with a mtb or a roadbike with a dropbar requires
different sort of discipline. Not exactly that I am an expert on this topic
however I just want to share what I know after riding both kind of bikes
for about three to four years.

Here are some tips you could follow.

1. On either of the two, go slow (about 10 to 18 mph or 8 to 15 mph)

2. Ride as close to the left of the road as possible

3. Keep a look of traffic on your ride at all times especially buses, lorries and
other heavy vehicles. Stop your bike if necessary if they are too close to you.

4. Keep your ears open to the sound of horns, and noises made by the traffic.

5. Never put on your MP3 or anykind of radio listening device, you need your
ear to be alert at all times for what is happening on the road.

6. If you are really keen, fix a rear view mirror on the right side of the bike.

7. Keep the pressure of your tires correctly to get a smoother ride

8. Make sure you have a bell or if you are afraid the sound from the bell is
too soft to warn other traffic get an air-horn. Do use it carefully and gently
(not loud so as to scare or frighten people) Use it with good responsibility
and that is to warn others of your presence but not to offend them.

9. At traffic zebra crossing, wave your hands as a sign of "thank you" when
traffic stop to allow you to cross.

10. When turning right or left give appriopriate hand signals to warn other
traffic of your intention.

11. Do not wave in and out while you are on the road trying to overtake
one car after another and last but not least....

12. Do not try to show off by riding fast right in the centre of the road.
Some motorists will be too keen to shave you off by passing you by and
the side mirror of the car can knock you off any time and make you fall.

Over all, be humble even if you have a very expensive bike, don't try to be
arrogant and show off that you have an expensive bike. People cover up
the bike and that is one way to avoid it being stolen so quickly.

Cheers, and get that roadbike and have the fun of roadriding.

 :towelcheer:

You might have lots of fun with your DH bike at Thomson ride. Sunday Longhouse 8.30am.

Cruising around 32 to 35km/h is quite normal and most of them will ride at that speed. So just go ride Thomson ride on Sunday.

At least they won't call your DH bike a bangla bike.
