Hi Tim, what do you mean by hardcore rider?

I ride anything even if the thing has only one wheel
or the wheel is make of wood and I am from central
with five bikes of my choice at any one time. Need space
to keep them though.

Anyways FNR is not that hardcore lah. Its just a ride that started since 1994. Its more of a come as you please ride. We usually have our own different groups, but friday nights we just come together and ride together.

During the hey days, as many as 40 riders from all over singapore would gather. Nowadays group is abit smaller but still ride every friday. Good to know new riders, maybe some stay in your area than can make friends.

More of a social ride. NOt that hardcore. But every alternate week, you may get to see the legendary blackmrkt rider and sometimes if you are really really really lucky, you get to see another legendary blackmrkt rider. Or if you are damned bloody lucky, you get to see an old man riding an ellesworth.

Come down and make friends lor. But we not that hardcore lah, don't really know any tricks also. Maybe some of us can wheelie lah.

Friday 10-11 at raffles mrt there(oub). Usually we ride aroudn the central cbd area lor. some of us is old and lazy cannot cycle far.

anyway a few of the best riders in singapore live near your area.

i think i see you before in skatepark. You ever rode alone in sommerset while the lights are out. than suddnely you see alot of mtbs. One of them, rides a baby blue bike can rollback super good one?

yupz.. I rode at sommerset skatepark a few times when the lights out..
and some MTB riders came in.. baby blue? erm.. cant rem color also la..

anyway, haven been there for quite sometime. Cos riding alone is boring.. And my bike really kinda not suitable for skatepark yet.

Anyway, my bike is in the clinic, treating some problems.. Rims crooked. forgot to check tension la.. What a lesson to learn.. haha..

anyway, yes.. it's a 13 steps jumps..

The trick is to do a bunnyhop at the edge. Maybe for my bike only, becos it's heavy. And you need speed to clear the length of the stairs. Hopefully u clear the stairs. If not, brace urself!! haha... not clearing the stairs, most probably, front wheel will hit the ground and lose control. I guess tat's what happen to me when I fall..


The last trick is to, DO NOT THINK ABOUT THE FALL OR FEAR!! I guess tat's the most important..

Once you are scare, automatically, u wont do the BunnyHop. then u'll be hoping ur speed clear the stair.. If not, BRACE URSELF!! hahah..

doing "stair gaps" is not rly what i call "street riding" to be honest..
if you wanna do drop go get yourself a slopestyle bike and go to the nevada desert..

i stick to my old friends saying...
"to do a 20 stair gap is nothing but speed and luck, to do a simple hop to manual is skill"

Well, it's ok to use a dirt jump frame to do drops.. Anyway, i consider it better if u ride anything.. I dun intend to ride just street style..

Look at all the pro riders out there. Jeff Lenosky dun jus ride street. Waye Goss do street and DH, Aaron Chase himself says to be a good rider you got to ride all style of riding..

Drops doesnt make u better.. But it can boost your courage.. How do u think Andreu Lacondeguy came up with double backflip??

And drops isnt about luck at all if you have skills. If you can make the stairs gap a hundred time with falling once, that's is skill and it's not luck.

Well, I'm improving in street skills though... Practise makes perfect.. dun despise drops. this is wat make slopestyle and Downhill riders.

ermmm...nonsense? DH is based on riding down a moutain wif little or no drop...as for slopestyle...its come frm snowboarding iirc

erm.. DH has some drops.. not big one i agree.. But a lot of twist and tight turn..

It's not easy riding DH at very very high speed.. Watch more DVDs, u know why it's difficult to win at a World Cup Circuit.. haha.. Those pple are very very fast.. and the course is really really steep and twisted.

Slopestyle?? comes from where also no one knows... Like Redbull Rampage.. Who really invented it?? Every sport also got influence from other sport lor..

Look at snow mobile?? Backflip on it.. Influenced by motocross probably.. So MTB sport are also influenced by motocross..

Maybe pple thinking if they can do what they do on motobike, they put it on the mountain bike??

To me, UCI DH course drops are pretty huge already. That kind of height is ani't easy to conquer already.
