Title: Bike servicing

gworx - May 3, 2008 10:45 AM (GMT)
Hi, I had a fren who brought his bike for servicing @ SCH(Tampines st 11). They quoted $74 for full service including of polishing. Jus wanna check if the price is too steep? Do L&T provide such svc as well? Thought of servicing mine as well.. Thanks. ;)

If u meant full servicing as an OVERHAUL
$74 is a way too gentle price; very very cheap!

but i think, i dont think that you got an overhaul.
You most probably got a -okay, i got the bike so i just test test see everything steady anot- kinda thing.

You go check with them what they did for you.
An overhaul should do [ This is for a PRoper trails bike with fork and disc brakes etc]:

change all oils that are being used on the bike [ fork lah, brakes lah]
strip whole bike, degrease, wash wash, make sure all parts are in working conditions
If bolts are rusty; should be replaced

fork should be opened up to ensure spring is not rusty; if it is, be replaced

all in all, an overhaul should take about 1 week.
Im not very sure on this kinda thing. So best is you go ask the shop what they do for the bike ...

I asked my fren, he said total is $99. $75 for bike overhaul, $24 for disc brake overhaul. Its takes abt 5days.. I've also checked wif L&T.. They quote me $85 for full svc aka overhaul.. however mine is v-brake, not disc.. I forgot to ask em for disc brake... btw any1 got comments on SCH? cos nv tried their svc b4 nor heard their name mentioned in the forum.. Thanks
:peace:

300km is not that much
secondly noting that you only do road so there isnt much chances that your gona have a sh*t load of mud through your BBs or anything

for roadie; once every 2 years or 1 and a half for paranoid riders.
[Roadie also referring to MTBs who dont trail]

roughly would be $85 lah.

and btw, Trust LnT, you cant go that wrong with them.

Its good to service your bike after every 2000km or so.

Or search the web, many good informative sites.
Doesnt hurt to learn mechanical skills. You can service your own bike.
