get a missing link, u can remove ur chain in a min or even a few seconds.
for lubing, as i ride on road only.. singer oil is enough. For off road, best is use thicker lube.

Thicker lube will only make more sand and mud Stuck to your chain, cassette and chainring. apply those normal oil like TF2 , GT85 this kind... apply thinly.. if not other wise, you waste oil and dun make u smooth ride also.. Oil is getting more and more Expensive.. , Don't Anyhow waste oil..

you need a specified tool. We call it a chain breaker. Alternatively, you can get a multi tools with it. Both available only at bikeshops.

a missing link will cost about $10
can take out the chain easily even when riding half-way.

Good advice Nightkids, I find using Singer Oil gives me satisfaction.
The oil is fine and thin and one bottle costing $1.20 can last me more than
a year.
The Singer Oil can be used to lubricate other parts of the bike as well.

yeah but singer oil aint gona work when it comes to offroad man, or at least for me
After 1 round of tampines trail; or sometimes even half way during the round, the oil would be off and chain sounds become very often;
Just for my case , some how. (=

Some ppl might like singer oil, some ppl WD-40 and some weird weird oil..
Using this kind of oil will result in different way..
Singer oil for road shouldn't be a problem.. but the oil is a bit thick.. so it might only lube the surface of the chain instead of seeping it into your chain roller.. Hence if u r using thinner oil.. the chances of letting the oil seep into the chain roller is higher..
Chain too oily also no good..even if it's for road ride.. you will hear irritating sound coming out from chain.. like got sand in the chain or something like that(the sound)
Some ppl like it the cheaper way.. some ppl would like it the more expensive way.. is all up to indiviual.
Just like example.. washing a chain.. some ppl like to use Kerosene , some like diesel, some like patrol , some like soap and so on... so everyone have their way of method to clean / lubricate chain.

Well said, in the modern world of self-healing power there is this
verse as "to each his own". One can do according to one's wish
and not necessary follow the advice from others.
However in the long run, people who dare to experiment are the
ones who often produce innovations.
Prove me wrong.
