| In the early 90's, i read in MountainBike magazine about the infamous NYC bike messenger and their beloved Timbuk2 messenger bags. In the interview, most of them listed Timbuk2 as their most important "equipment", besides the bike of course. I quickly fell in-love with the whole "reckless" bike messenger thing and started tracking down Timbuk2. I currently owns 3 custom ordered ones, my wife owns two.. Ok, the story is not about that actually... Then a few years back while being entranced by Chrome messenger bags and pictures in Flickr, i read about bike messengers and their Fixies.. I soon discovered FGG - http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/ and thus my dream of being a REAL bike messenger (wannabe nonetheless) was set into motion. I bought a used old Jap racer and start my D.I.Y. project.. 2+ years passed, but the bike was not finished/assembled yet. And it sadly sit in my storeroom.. All i needed was a pair of road tyres and inner tubes, and a trip to my fav LBS. So, one fine day i decided to put ot on sale here, and a cool guy bought it and complete the project. He was nice enough to email me the pic of the bike. I showed the pic to my wife and she gave me that sad knowing smile (she knows how much effort and time i've put into the bike). If you're interested to look at the D.I.Y. process, here's the link: http://flickr.com/photos/uncle/sets/72057594126403026/ Anw, i'm proud to put the pic of my ex-Fixie here, even though it not mine now.. ;) |
